Looking for best choice for this engine I am changing intakes for show purposes (polished)so now is the time to ask. I have always thought that this engine is over carbed and over manifolded so thats my question. Existing is 396 / 350hp rebuilt 40k ago 30 over, small cran cam for street to mild race, INTAKE IS EDELBROCK PERFORMER RPM, HOLLEY 750,hooker comp ceramic coated headers, billet pulleys ETC. This is a pussy cat engine now with specs of a 375hp. Should it be a standard perfromer and smaller carb ??? Driven for shows and fun Ideas welcome

Manifold and carb sound about right to me... Are you disappointed in it's preformance? Give use more details and I'm sure some of use can help you out combowise.

The 750 is big for a mild 396. the manifold is about all you can run from Edelbrock. The std Performer has runners that match peanut port heads. I love Q-jets on mild 396s but they aren't very pretty or trick looking.

Thank guys I guess we stay with whats running as I am into more looks than damage so until the stocker comes out will just polish the Performer RPM intake and as they say "just run what ya brung"
