I installed the white vinyl top on my '69 today. Overall, not really that difficult of a job, but we will have to see what it looks like ina fewdays. As I installed it, it was pulled tight, but as the adhesive set up, it developed some wrinkles that I hope will come out when I get a chance to pull the car out into the sun tomorrow. I did lay the top out in the sun for a while to soften up first. FYI, I used 3M #80 Vinyl & Rubber Adhesive which is what 3M recommends on their site.

Seems to me the vinyl top had a thicker padding than the original and more of a padded feel than I remember these having. Also think this material is just a lot softer to begin with, maybe not. But I kind of rememeber vinyl (for tops) being thinner and stiffer/harder. That may be the reason that I am not 100% satisfied with the results. Been a while, but if I remember correct, a few wrinkles is normal and will relax within a couple of days. Will see.

I hope the wrinkles come out for you, but I don't think they will. I used 3M Super Trim adhesive #08090. When I laid the top down after the adhesive set up a few minutes, it stuck so good, I probably would have ripped the vinyl if I tried to peel it back up.

As far as the vinyl top material itself, original tops did not have any padding. You can get a very original non padded top from Kee Auto Top (http://www.keeautotop.com/).

I looked at it again this AM. May out it out in the sun later on and see what happens. Thanks for the link, I will contact them about their tops. Think the padding may be what is causing the problem. I kinda think the vinyl is stretched over the backing and/or possible lifting in spots. It will have to do for now.
