1) How much boost will hyper pistons stand before cracking, assuming no tuning issues?

2) Anyone know the @.050 durations on the L-37/Z-16 cam, found all the other specs.

3) How much HP will a factory block take before grenading? I have gathered enough parts for a 1200 HP build.

Thanks in advance!

3) How much HP will a 396 block take before grenading, not going for the 1200HP anymore?

I would not recommend using Hypers in any boost or nitrous condition, it's just not worth the risk.

didnt find anything

I am going to take a "swag" of 800hp, to me if your going after 1200hp your going to need high quality parts to stand that kind of abuse, there is just no cheap way to build anything over 400HP
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the help, decided to run forged pistons. Unsure which shortblock I will use right now, I have 2. Thinking of using the Eddy performer rpm set up on a 396 with a vortech v-7. The cam was just curiosity.

1200+ HP on a blown alky 427 using a filled factory 4 bolt block with main studs netted some pretty serious cap walking/fretting. I would agree that 700 to 800 for a factory 4 bolt would be the limit (with main studs) and would stop at 500/550 HP with a 2 bolt.

If you are serious about making HP, don't even consider hypereutectic pistons, and if you want to make BIG power than you need an aftermarket block.

The Z-16/Marine hy-cam has the same spec's as the net lift L-78 solid cam if not mistaken.

Anybody know for sure?

From HPBooks old BB book, 56/120 and 107/65 advertised timing at .008" lift and it supposedly comes out to 356/242/353/242, 114/108, .500" lift.

The lift was about .461 on the intake of that cam, the exhaust was .500. It also had bigger seat to seat numbers.

The hyper pistons was just to see if they could stand any kind of blown application, about 5-6 psi. I plan on an aftermarket block for the 1200HP, 502, AFR heads, V-7, etc. I just figured since I have the stuff sitting around I might as well use it, 600-700HP 396 or 427.
