: Speedometer gear

I'm running a Richmond 5-speed in my '72 and would like to hook up the speedometer. Is there some sort of adapter that I need to attach the driven gear and cable to the trans? All there is right now is a hole in the side of the trans with a tapped hole off to one side. If I look inside the trans I can see the drive gear but there is nothing to hold the driven gear or cable. It's probably a stock GM part but I can't find anything in the shop manuals or assembly manuals showing it.

Thanks,

Tom

You need a "speedometer bullet", GM's proper name, "fitting" p/n 345215 (GM Dealership)
A "Retainer" p/n 3708148 (GM Dealership)
Retainer bolt 1/4"-20 x 3/4" (Hardware store)

All Richmond transmissions use the same bullet as a Muncie, GM T350, and a Saginaw to name a few. Most local GM dealerships should have these items in stock.
