My 67 Chevelle SS396 is missing the PG Kickdown linkage. I found one online, are there any drawbacks to installing? Can you just shift from L to D instead of hooking up or is that a bad idea? Thanks.

Okay. The powerglide kickdown I bought off ebay will not fit on my 67 SS396. Does anyone have a suggestion or have a PG Kickdown for a 67 SS396 Chevelle? Thanks.

To answer your original question, yes you can shift from L to D without the kickdown in place.

In D, you go low to high...... In L, you stay in low until shifting into high...

no sweat. If you are going 35 MPH and stomp the pedal and you are in High.... you will stay in High (no kickdown lever installed.) I would think that many cars do/did this over the years.
