Does anybody know where I get a stock radio on the cheap. It doesn't have to work, I just want to fill the hole. Or better yet what is your advice on what to do with the radio hole?

Thanks,

Jon

I bought a non working one off of ebay for 50 dollars. If you just want to fill in the hole, make sure you do hook up the radio light bulb. It looks good when your whole dash is lite up at night.

Thanks for the advice! I didn't think about the radio light, but it makes sense.

I did the same thing to just fill up the hole. Dont remember seeing a hookup for a light bulb although mine did not have a harness. Does the light snap in like the gauges or is it internal?

You can get an older am radio redone with new guts.

They replace with all new up to date electronics and keep it looking stock.

The light is internal. You need to get power to the radio for the lights to work.

If you car originally had a radio there will be a connection in the dash harness for the power source.

Thanks, I do have the power wire since my aftermarked stereo uses it. What turns the light on and off since the power wire is always ignition hot. Is it the radio knob?

Yes,

The light does not come on unless the radio is turned on.

The power wire should be powered through the accessories system, not the ignition.

I ripped most of the guts out of my "looks only" 69 radio leaving just the dial and push button assembly. Then wired the dial light to come on with the instrument lights. Put a cd/radio in the glove box for tunes.
