: Cleaning you engine and engine bay, what do you use?
sassy 67 Jun 5th, 08, 4:02 PM Our car is a driver and we also show it. We had used a Mr Moto Motorcycle Wash to wash our engine and engine bay ever so often to get rid of the highway grim. This stuff worked good on the engine and also under the car and I really liked it. The stuff is no loner available locally. What do you'll use that won't leave a lot of streaks, smells kinda good and biodegradable? Don't want to have to buy a sample of everything in the local parts house to find a good wash.
thanks

31 chevy Jun 5th, 08, 4:32 PM I use the purple power clean. You can get it at Autozone, Advance auto etc.
Dilute it. It's very strong....
mr 4 speed Jun 5th, 08, 4:44 PM aluminum wheel cleaner that is clear coat safe works very well.

What he said. Also use it full strength "soaker" on all the old parts I am recycling before de-rusting and painting.
davoaz Jun 5th, 08, 7:18 PM does it work on engine grease?
BLOWNBBC Jun 5th, 08, 7:25 PM Simple Green. Cleans great and is safe for everything. Use full strength.
Atlast Jun 5th, 08, 7:28 PM Another vote for Simple Green
AXEMAN39 Jun 5th, 08, 7:50 PM I use "S100" motorcycle cleaner available at most Harley shops.
Chevelle_Nut Jun 5th, 08, 8:01 PM I use straight Purple Power in my parts washing tank. Does a great job on greasy parts.
Rich-L79 Jun 5th, 08, 8:04 PM Simple Green is great. I also use 409 a lot but you don't want to let it stand on aluminum without wiping it off in a few seconds. It can dull anodized or polished aluminum if left to stand as a liquid on the aluminum for a long while.
Dandydynodon Jun 5th, 08, 8:09 PM simple green and a power washer......
53Chev Jun 5th, 08, 8:49 PM I use Complicated Green.
Works great even if I find it hard to understand the instructions.
LateNight72 Jun 6th, 08, 3:48 AM Another vote for Simple Green. Especially since its biodegradable..

350_Malibu Jun 7th, 08, 10:25 AM Castrol Super Clean is what I use for nasty grease build up. It cuts through some really nasty stuff and has never harmed any of my paint. It can be diluted for lighter jobs and it too is biodegradable. It doesn't smell like fruit or anything but it doesn't smell bad.
