I tried to install the slider that goes in the console today. The top plate wouldn't fit with the slider in there. Does the plastic cup that goes around the boot go underneath the console? Mine has the cup drop down from the top. Underneath is the only way I can see it working.

If I'm understanding you right, there shouldn't be a "cup" when using the slider piece. The first "cup" I ever saw was on a '70 and it didn't use the slider. None of my '69s had "cups".

The cup(or tunnel) as it is called in Ground UPs catalog has the groves for the slider to ride on. The catalog says it's for 68-72. I don't know what the slider would be supported by without the cup.

The slider should be supported by four tabs on the console. It just lays in there and slides back and forth. I wouldn't go by what a vendor says is right because they are just trying to sell parts and don't always know what is correct. (at least in some cases)

I'll try it without the cup. Thanks!

Here's a pic of my '69 console (at least a portion thereof) showing the rear of the slider and the tabs that it slides in.
