For the po folks out there like me, the Crager Soft-8's fit great over C5 brakes. No spacer is needed and there is good caliper clearance as well. I got all 4 17 x 9 wheels for less than one of the V45's cost me (less than $300 delivered from Summit). I am using them as race wheels for autox with 275/40/17 BFG R1's. They list at 40 lbs each, two in boxes banded together weighed 78 lbs. With the R1's (used), the wheel/tire combo weighed 55-56 lbs on a digital bathroom scale. The R1's are listed at 26 lbs. I didn't have the scale to weigh the wheels when I got them. For reference, a 17 x 9.5 V45 with 275/40/17 Sumitomo HTR Z's weigh in at 50-51 lbs. Not a huge difference for the cost savings.

Do you have any pictures of these wheels on im guessing your el camino. Ive been very tempted to buy a set of 17x9s as well as the price is hard to beat, and I like the look of a black wheels (though, they're obviously not a trick looking as black painted v45's).

how well do they fit?

I was running 17X9.5 with 275/40-17, and with the C5 brakes, 5.5" BS seemed tight on the outside (I ended up running 6.0" BS, with an 1/8" spacer). A quick search of summit shows those rims are only available in 4.0" and 5.0" BS...

Do they fit well? Do they only have 5" BS?

I wonder how stiff the wheels will be for high cornering loads (will they flex? Will they be good for AutoX?)?

Show us some Pictures on the car!!!

You can kind of see them here: http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=228394 click on the link in the text. Being black they don't show up very well on a white car.
They do rub sometimes on the front at the fender edge when turning, with the 275/40 R1's on it. They only do it when cornering hard, just driving around hasn't been an issue yet. I trimmed the inner fender back and pushed it in so it wouldn't contact the tire and possibly cut it. If your car isn't as low in the front, this shouldn't be a problem. 5.5 - 6" backspacing would be better, but they don't offer it. They are stout wheels, not lightweight by any means. Alot of off-roaders use them and they hold up well. They would probably take quite a bit of abuse without problems. When I go to the next autox on the 15th, I will take some more pictures.

I'm running the 15x7/15x8 soft 8 combo on mine and had been wanting to update to the 17", glad someone else has done it, only thing I'd like is the white lettering on the tires to really make the wheels stand out, i'll have to weigh my 15's to see how they compare to the 17" combo. 17's look great though!

i wish they made them with more of a NASCAR looking center in them with 10 "D" shaped holed instead of the round holes.
if they did, every car i own would have a set.
