Anybody know which of the chain stores carry this brand ot t-stat? I want to try the modified 180 stat. Part # EMP-301. On the Stewart website, the shipping was as much as the T-stat. I'd like to get one locally. Called 3 places around me and nobody carries them.
Looking for this one.... #301 T-stat (http://www.stewartcomponents.net/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=301&Category_Code=Therm)

I don't think anyone sells those themostats except Stewart, and I got mine from Summit. You are right though, the shipping costs almost as much as the themostat. If it makes you feel any better that's the one in my car now and it works fine with the electric water pump.

Jim, MR. Gasket has a nice highflow T-stat. PepBoys, Autozone, etc. has them.
My temp dropped by 10* when I installed it. I have a Edelbrock pump....and it musta liked it.
Thanks for the info guys. I have a standard 180 t-stat now with four 3/16" holes drill in the plate. I get some goofy temps while steady cruising with it. Holds at about 180-185, then shoots up to 200 for a couple of minutes, then returns to normal again. Want to change the t-stat. I have a Stewart stage 2 pump and they recommend the hi-flow stat to begin with.

I bought a Robertshaw a few years ago at either Kragens or Pep Boys.
But...I've had two thermostat failures in 44 years of owning/driving cars
1. 33 year old original on my '65
2. two year old Robertshaw 195*.
Replaced the second one with the cheapo Stant 180 four years ago and works fine. Never had to drill any holes; they have a relief orifice as part of the design.
