: Rebuilt,new steering columns?
nakamura_racing_sports Jun 4th, 08, 3:49 AM Are they worth trying to rebuild? I have a friend that says it's not worth the time and when he tried to install the new bearing race, the column was too loose and it was sloppy. Does anyone sell a rebuilt or new unit?
Dan Orgill Jun 4th, 08, 5:55 AM I believe our sponsor, Ground up, sells rebuilt columns.

FWIW, I had my column disassembled for paint and replaced a few parts during reassembly ( wel, my mechanic did ) and everything was fine. Maybe your column has just seen better days.
TCSS1970 Jun 4th, 08, 7:58 AM Ground up does sell them and I bought one it seems fine. Expect 3 to 6 month delivery.:(

nakamura_racing_sports Jun 8th, 08, 10:23 PM Thank you Ethan and everyone else. Will I need to send that guy a core?
Ethan1 Jun 9th, 08, 1:49 PM Jay,
Your welcome. It says on there website, that they will rebuild or restore your column. So, you probably would have to send them yours.
Ethan
Xplantdad Jun 9th, 08, 7:35 PM Thanks from me too. Never know when I might need something like that done!:hurray:
nakamura_racing_sports Jun 9th, 08, 10:44 PM What about the ones he has in stock?
SS Chad Jun 9th, 08, 11:03 PM The gentleman you are talking about is Wayne Wiles. He did a column for me about a year ago and did a fabulous job. Best to contact him directly to see what he has in stock. Otherwise you can follow his eBay listings. He goes by the username gmtilt. Here is a link to a current listing (he doesn't have a listing for a Chevelle column right now).
