A buddy of mine traded me an old line lock for some tires. These tires are made by Goodyear and they say "short track special" on the sides of them. They also say "not for highway use". Anyone know anything on them, as in what applications they are used for?

Sounds like circle track tires. Not very good for drag racing.

Some have a real soft compound. I've often wondered how they'd hook for drag racing.
Try em & let us know. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

If they are short track tires, they will have a very stiff sidewall. Not too good for drag racing.

Yeah they have a pretty stiff sidewall....so stiff that even 2 tire shops wern't able to get them to bead on the rim!
We ended up installing them redneck style.....I don't recommend this to anyone but it worked on one tire....the other only one side beaded and it required using two people to get it to bead....again redneck style.
I got them for burnout tires. I wasn't able to get them to hook but then again I had 35 psi in them.
