The driver side of my bench seat is falling back as you can see on the pic. below. Is there any parts that can fix that or do I need a new bench. ?

Are the Hard Rubber stops OK? Some times these will wear out and the seat will lean back, You can also adjust the position of the seat back by shimming under the hard rubber stops.

The frame inside my driver's buckect seat was cracked and caused the same lean. Cracked near the plate that goes across the top of the seat and holds the headrest. Doesn't look like you can get to it on the bench seat without removing the upholstery. I was able to get to it on the bucket seat because they have the hard plastic back that can be removed.

Where can I find the hard rupper stops?

Do I need to remove the upholstery to locate them?

When I still had the bench seat in my 65 it leaned like that. I had to remove the seat cover. The metal frame on the bottom near the hinge point had basically torn . I welded in some new metal to repair it. The rubber stops are between the seat back and base. Just tilt the seat forward and they should be there. If not I would think the holes from the screw that fastens them should still be visible

Loacting the rubber seat stoppers.

Fold the seat back forward (as if someone was getting into the back seat). The rubber stoppers should be at the back of the seat - near the hinge.

As stated, it either the rubber stopper is gone or crushed OR the upper seat frame has been bent or cracked.

I think it might be both, the rupper stops isnt there.

I will take the upholstry off in next week, to see how the frame is.

The rubber stop may be it (little effort to fix), try that before tearing off the upholstery (BIGGER effort to fix)...

Good luck

they didnt forget to install them they install them on someone's else's seats it hard for me to trust any repair man , so i just learn to do it myself. there a small learning curve they say practise make perfect. or is third times the charm, i guess it depends if your wearing depends or not lol

If you go to Ebay and enter Chevelle seat bumpers there are several sets for $10.00 and a couple bucks shipping. If you don't want to buy them on Ebat at least you can see what they look like.

I found them on Ebay, but I live in Denmark and not all ship international.

I asked one of them if they would ship them so lets see what happens.

That seat looks like either what Hank or Jerry said- it has an issue with the seat frame cracked or worn pivot points. I'd bet the frame needs welding.

Finally I found a Ebay seller that would do international shipping so the seat bumpers is comming.

But for sure that wasnt the problem :D

I found out that the frame in the bench was broken, as you can see in the pics.

I used to have a bench seat but it has been a while so I'm not sure if the bench is the same as the bucket. But on the bucket seat there is a portion of the upper seat frame that sticks through the seat cover and kinda looks like the blade of a hockey stick. That blade looking thing makes contact with the bumper to kind of soften the shock of retracting the seat to the upright position. the bumper sits on top of the seat cover of the bottom frame and the two screws pass through the bumper, then through the seat cover and go into the seat bottom frame. They will have to be placed exactly where they belong or you wont be able to get the attaching screws installed. You may have to loosen the seat cover to expose the mounting location or you could look at some other seats ( maybe on Ebay if you can find one with a clear enough photograph ) and then when you know the approx. location. Probe through your seat cover with something small like a sewing needle till you find one of the mounting holes. Mind you these mounting holes are maybe only 1/8 inch in diameter, so they could be a challenge to locate. Once you find one hole you can use the bumper to locate the second hole. Hope this helps!!!!!

Here's a bench from a 64 Elky. Can't vouch for it being original.
