Well we made it back from the Thunder Shootout in Louisiana....TIRED!! The 540 LOVES efi... It's response is lightning fast off the throttle. We've still got a lot of tuning to do but she did well. The car weighed in at 3480. The first rattle out the box we launched her at 2500 off the tranny brake.... she didn't like that at all. The motor bogged BAD! 1.98 60ft, she ended up with 10.80 @ 136 mph. Next pass we decided to raise the 2 step up to 4500.... 1.70 60ft 10.50 @ 137 mph, last motor pass was 10.40 @ 137 with a 1.60 60ft.

.... We felt we could make a better motor pass but we were running out of time.....SO

We hooked up the nitrous... We put a 200 shot on her and she seemed to like it, but it was PIG RICH. She started boiling black smoke like a big dog about the last third of the track. I figured we screwed up and put too big of a fuel pill in the plate. Come to find out it sucked the cowl hood down over the throttle body... (it was funny as heck!!) But she still managed a 9.50 @ 145 mph.... not bad for BFG drag radials

What EFI setup do you have? What does it cost to change over from carb?
With 137 MPH you have the potential to run 9`s on motor. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

The EFI setup is:

PMF 2000cfm throttle body
Single Plane Vic with injector bungs
83lb injectors with fuel press at 45lbs
FAST (bank to bank) with wide band O2

After doing the ET math it looks like we picked up right at 100 hp on motor with the EFI setup verses the 1190 demon.

The motor sounds nothing like it did with the carb on it. It's much more crisp. I'll try to highjack the same video camera I used a few weeks ago to film the other clips, and get you guys some clips.

And roughly how much $$$ for that setup if you don`t mind my asking ?

there is something wrong if you can pick up that much HP with a switch to EFI from carb...I can see crisper, better throttle response, but I really do not see how the EFI can gain you 100HP, unless the carb was just a piece of you know what.....

If you bought all of the EFI equipment new it would be outrageous.

I figure we got about 3K in the EFI.

Yep, We raced at No Problem. They maybe shutdown for the year, but this was their annual Shootout race that Thunder Racing puts on.

As far as the hp increase with the EFI, I can't explain it, but it is making ALOT more power. The motor came with a Dyno Sheet. When the motor left Shafiroff it pulled 728 with the carb. If you plug the weight and the MPH of the EFI run into an engine calculator it shows up at around 822 @ the crank. I realize that these kind of numbers aren't 100% accurate by no stretch of the imagination, but they are pretty close. I plugged the MPH and weight of the juice pass and they come up at 1022. Which tells me that the NOS guys have their kits pretty dern close to the advertised hp ratings (I don't know this is my first go around with nitrous). The 1/8th mile MPH on motor was 107. It picked up to 117 on the gas....
