: Bullets & Flows.........

Talking about putting my bullets on with my flows....So that when I go to the track I can unbolt the flows and the bullets will be on already.......Just a thought and wondering if anyone has seen this or heard this before......Maybe it would sound pretty cool....Looking to tone it down a bit and thought this might do the job.....

I had heard of someone doing this awhile back but have never seen it before.......

Call me crazy...... graemlins/clonk.gif graemlins/clonk.gif Or maybe not.

Scott,

I have 4 of the Dynomax bullets in my system with the 24" long Magnaflows. Two bullets are ahead of the mufflers and two are behind them in the tailpipes. Had to put the ones in the tailpipes to take the "crackle" out of the system.

It is still a straight through 4" system, but it sounds great outside the car and doesn't attract the police (unless I do something stupid). Inside the car is a different story. There is a very annoying resonance at 55 mph, which is where the car spends a lot of time cruising.

Thanks Wayne......I knew I heard of someone doing this.......How much do you think by putting the bullets in front of the flows it will (one) tone it down and (two) change the sound ???

Thanks for the input.......How's the tribe doing ??? Thanks...Scott.

Dang Wayne...your exhaust must weight 200+ lbs. lol. I thought my 3" system with full tails weighed alot, but that's with only 2 mufflers, not 6  .

I have heard a few......They all sound the same......Kinda quiet at idle and cracky when the r's come up.....IMO......My friend Chris also had them on his Nova ...and they came off a few days later.......Matbe it makes a diff with tail pipes????

Yea, I'd say the tails should be helpfull in reducing any nasty tones...took my tails off to see what ET difference was and put them right back on...like the sound much better with full tails.

Scott,
My experience has been that putting tailpipes on will only increase the crackle. Putting the bullets in the tailpipes will reduce the crackle, but they are just a small glasspack, so don't expect much sound level reduction. Remember when some Chevelles had resonators in the tailpipes? We are making good progress on Sherri's 59 Biscuit. We have some real trick door panels in the upholstery shop. I'll e-mail you some pics.

10 Sec Bu,
I would estimate that the exhaust system on my car weighs 150 - 175lbs, but I have never weighed it. It's way overkill and I wish I had gone with a 3 1/2", but it does sound good from outside the car.

Boy Scott, I have them and there is no crackle at all, just a nice deep tone. I had flowmaster 40's and they sounded like crap compared to these. Plus I went .15 faster with these over the flows.

Here is a link to a sound clip of mine: http://www.1970chevelle.net/Drag_Movies/muffler.MOV

The car ran near identical incrementals all the way down the track on before & after runs.

My grandfather has Flowmaster mufflers, and Bullets after that. Gives it a real nice mellow tone with a "hint" of Flowmaster, and eliminated interior resonance. This is on a '67 Chevelle.

Todd,

Thanks for the info on the tailpipes..........I like a car much more with the tails and I'm glad to see you didn't lose any ET.........it's encouraging and I'm hoping for the same result!!
