Re-building a mild 454 and came across a decent deal for a set of 702 heads to replace the existing 236 heads.
We've got a Magnum 270H cam in there, and the stock flat-top pistons on an .030 bore. The 270H is a .501 lift 270/224 and 110* .
In addition, we're using an Airgap and a Holley 750 Vac 2ndary carb - 3310 I think?
My question here is whether or not it's worth $150 for a drop-in-and-go set of 702 heads as opposed to the 236's? Drop in and go meaning they reportedly don't need any work... I know there are some issues around enlarging the valves in the 702 and water problems, but we likely wouldn't be doing that work. The heads have been ported already too.
So, would we see much of a performance increase from the head change?
