I am putting together the pulleys and water pump. I think I need pulleys for the Waterpump, The Crank, Power Steering Pump, and the Alternator if I decide to get one that matches. I dont have AC or Heat anymore so dont have to worry about that. Basically I am wondering what to concider, the grooves mix me up a little bit, I would only need a double groove for the crank pulley wouldnt i? Im trying to remember what goes where.... Thanks in Advance

Why no A/C or heat anymore? I must have missed something from a previous post. Just curious.

It didnt really work when I got the car and I would never use it anyways, I have the windows down weather its 105º or 55º =) ... Unless it's raining.

I was thinking about running these 3 below. They are all Short Water Pump, along with the Stewart 11104. All double groove accept the power steering pump pulley. Would this stuff work? As mentioned before, the grooves and what goes where mixes me up a tad.

You need a groove for the water pump-crank-alternator. If you have power steering then that's usually another groove. If you have A/C (and you said you didn't), that usually is a third groove.

I'd say that if you have power steering, a double groove crank pulley is in order. That's what I have.

Thats what I was thinking, triple groove w/ AC. So these would work? Both being double groove.

The rebuilt, stock, cast-iron SWP's snout I got for my BB is double drilled and upon installing everything I found out that my original '67 Camaro 350SS motor's W/P and single groove crank pulley worked as did a stock add-on P/S pulley.

I'm using the lower drivers side P/S mount that Alan Groves makes too. Very good value for the money, imho!!

Pnut,

The stock set up for 69 and later BB cars is double groove crank pulley and single water pump. One belt runs from crank, to w/p, to alt. and the other drives the p/s directly from the other groove in the crank. Triple groove crank pulleys will work too, you'll just not use the 3rd groove (thats for AC). This is the Long W/P set up. If you go with the short w/p set up keep in mind that the accesories are different, the alt, is then on the drivers side. If you are starting from scratch, check to see which style components are cheaper, I believe the LWP stuff is more common.

Good luck.

Phil,

Just a misc thought, and if I'm wrong, please someone correct me. If you do use the Short pump, you will have to use a spacer to get the fan into the Fan shroud (sp?). It won't be that long, but you will still have to have it. If you go with the 69 or later pump, the spacer becomes much smaller (or is not needed). A long spacer on the pump, adds wear and tear on the pump bearings. If I remember correctly, your car was a 70 or later. Getting the pulleys for a long pump is no harder than the short.

Fred.

Driver side mount on the alternator huh? I was hoping to do it on the passenger side, so much more space over there. I guess either will be fine, I already got my short water pump on. Yeah I read that some place that a spacer would be needed for the fan.

I'd return the pump for a long style, the pulley and bracket kits are cheaper. You can get "kit prices " from Ground Up.
