Hi guys,
New to this forum, have had plenty of Camaro's and Corvette's but now have the opportunity to purchase a 64 SS car. I have known of this car for some time (belongs to my uncle who has had it for 5 years). This is a rust free...and I mean rust free car that is pretty much complete with all trim, interior etc. My uncle owns his own body shop and he stripped the entire car, soda blasted all the hard to reach stuff and has the car in epoxy primer. It currently has a 1966 375Hp 396 with a M21. It has the original 12 bolt rear...not sure of ratio.

Here's the question.......whats it worth?? It will obviously need an interior/paint, suspension refresh and to go through the drive train. I want to make a reasonable offer without insulting him.....I believe he is looking for 8K to take it in it's current condition. Thoughts???? Thanks in advance,
Jeff

So hard to say sight unseen, but he's probably not too far off with what he's looking for.....if it's what you say it is. Might try to buy it for $5,000 first. That shouldn't insult him too bad.

By the way, it's got one thing going for it already if it really is the original 12 bolt rear. 99.999% +/- of 64s had 10 bolts.

Hi Jeff,
I think $8,000.00 for a truly rust free SS that is complete minus the motor and transmission is fair. Just make sure that the first three Numbers of the V.I.N. are 457 (6 Cylinder SS) or 458 (8 Cylinder SS). The 12 Bolt is out of a 65 or later Chevelle. 64 Chevelles only came with 10 Bolt Rears.

Thanks for the input guys. I believe 5K is going to be a little low considering the condition/completness of the car, I was thinking $7500 would be a good offer? It will come with the 66 Chevelle 375/396 and 4 speed. My bust on the 12 bolt, it probably is from a 65......VIN matches for a 8 cylinder SS. Thanks again!!
