I have two options, from here to I 40 thru Knoxville on to CB08 or, from here down I 20 to Atlanta to I 75 to CB 08.
The map programs a telling me it's about 26 miles farther to go thru Atlanta.
What do you guys think?

It depends on what time you get into Atlanta. I'm going through Atlanta, I-85 to I-285 to I-75. Not quite as many mountians to deal with up I-75 and I-24. I-4o has a few steep mountians to deal with.

That one in Crossville is tough with an enclosed trailer. 7% Grade for 5 miles. That's the way I'm going though.

We got word that I-40 is being detoured around 640 bypass around Knoxville. That construction has been there for like at least 7 years. Is it ever going to be done???

When I was in the Navy in Charleston S.C. to Nashville I always took 26 to 40. Unless there was a chance of snow. I think you'll be ok on that one. Fastest way.

Well, I'm going I 40. I may leave after work tomorrow and drive till I get tired and stop for the night. That will make it a shorter trip Thursday.
Checked all the fluids in Ol paint and all systems are go once I throw my bags in the back.:hurray:

Agree with above about construction and traffic in Knoxville. Been stuck there a couple of times and it really sucks. Unless you hit Atlanta during rush hour, I think it's a better plan.
