I got my compressor up and running but it seems like it is running up the psi pretty high before it kicks out. It kicks out at 140 psi and back on at 120. I think I would like to run it at 120 and back on at about 90. I took a pic of the electrical box but I don't know how to turn it down. Anybody know? Thanks

Looks like someone soldered the big one so you couldn't change it. That one should be your
max pressure, the small one is your low cut on setting. I forget which way to turn them, some
are different. On the small one cut-on pressure you can shut off current to it & let out air till
you get to your 90, then adj the nut till you hear the switch click.

I'm not much help but less spring pressure should = lower pressure.
One spring is the differential setting (the range between "cut in" and cut out") and the other is the "cut out".
Why do you want the pressure lower?

Doesn't 140 and 120 seem kinda high? I've never had a compressor of this size. Seems like it would be working harder to get up to that pressure. What do you guys run yours at? Should I just leave it alone?
The higher the pressure, the more available air.
My compressor cuts off at 150 psi but I've been thinking raising the cut out point to 175psi.

What does the plate on your tank say for max working pressure? If the motor isn't lugging and the tank is rated to work at that pressure then I wouldn't change the pressure.
I am not sure you need to adjust your pressure. From the looks of things, you would probably be better off buying a new pressure switch.

Scot,
Most of those are factory set and should not be messed with. One thing I have found out over the years is that the cheap gauges that come on most compressors are not real accurate. First thing I would do is replace the gauge and see what pressure it really is running at. If it is really at 140, your tag shows a max of 125 and I would probably figure out a way to reduce it some, especially if you dont know the history on the thing.

Also looks like there is an 800 number for Devilbiss on the tag ..... they would be the ones to call for information.
