Has anyone tried the RPM Air Gap?
Does the "gap" acutally help the air charge stay cooler? I cannot imagine there beeing much of difference between the RPM Air Gap and the regular RPM.
Thanks for any help

Have it on my 467 BB. Back to back swap with an RPM, no quicker or faster. It "looks" faster though but the casting is rough.

Would the rpm air gap help over a performer 2.0 on a 454?

Depends on a number of things like cam, compression, converter and gear. In a mild motor it's not worth the money.

In theory, the air gap would help to make power. But in a real world situation it makes little, if any, differance.+ICE-

Don't know from personal experience,BUT a TC member is selling his freshly painted stock 69SS Chevelle hood because it won't fit over his recently "installated" new airgap on the rat.FYI-Shawn

WHAT!!!!!! I'm almost done with a frame off on my 69 SS. I installed a RPM AIR GAP manifold, heads, & cam. My hood is at the bodyshop, WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT NOW WONT FIT ON MY CAR http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif with a air gap manifold!!! Can anyone else confirm this is true. Even with a low profile air cleaner?? I E-mailed the person with the hood for sale to ask him the problem he had but received no response.

69, not true. Fits no problem on my 68 with the stock SS hood and I have 1" worth of spacers on the mounting pad. The air gap's mounting pad is actually 1/4" lower than the RPM and the stock drop base air cleaner clears also.

I have one on my '69 Camaro (switched from a Performer) and I noticed an increase in power. My friend's '70 RS with a 406 performer went from running 12.3 to 11.99 with just that same swap. As for the difference between it and the regular RPM I doubt that there is a noticeable difference BUT it does look a lot cooler and you can route temp sensor wires and vacuum lines underneath the carb for a cleaner look.
