I'm still trying to determine the "correct" thermostat housing for my friend's 1970 SS396. Through research, it looks like PN 3877660 is correct. Maybe. There are housings with the PN stamped on the neck in different size fonts and on the front lip. I know the one with the PN on the front lip is correct for my '66.
I believe the hsg with the number on the neck may be a replacement part, but I'm not real sure. There are other variations in these necks, also.
Is there a judging book available out there somewhere that has most or all of this kind of stuff laid out in it?
I know the old NCOA had guidelines, but I don't know how in-depth they were.
My friend's not trying to build a concours correct car, but he's trying to get as much of this stuff as correct as possible without going into debt.
