I put a new sending unit in my 72 chevelle fuel tank, the tank when full says half tank. I thought maybe I pointed it in the wrong direction so it hits the tank, but it has hose connections on the top which point in only one direction. So what else could it be? Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks, Jeff

Well if your hose outlets are pointing towards the front of the car its installed correct.
Double check your fuel sensor ground wire and make sure it has a good ground.

I think it was hung up on the screen, I pulled it, checked it by hand with the gauge, worked fine. Put it back in, reads over 3/4 when fuel, dont understand whats going on, but its closer. Now I have a clutch issue, putting that on correct forum

not trying to hijack your thread, however I'm having problems with my fuel gauge as well. the wire is plugged in at the rear however when the ignition is turned on the fuel gauge does not move, it's pegged above full and it's not even close to being full. Tried grounding the wire and still does nothing to the gauge. Bad sending unit?

Hey..Did you figure out what is going on? My '69 is doing the same exact thing. The needle is pegged well above the full level and will not move.
