does anyone know if the 67 chevelle has a plug-in, wiring hook-up for the console. I bought one off of ebay and I am ready to install. The shop manual has good pics but I can't find any hookup. I thought these cars were wired off the assembly line with every hookup option available.

thanks,

Only cars ordered with a console had plugs for the console in the dash harness.

"Only cars ordered with a console had plugs for the console in the dash harness."

True - Unless the car has the optional gauge dash. All gauge dash harnesses have the console lighting connection.

thanks Wayner and Elree- I added the SS gauge package so it has minimum wiring. My assembly book's page that shows (somewhat) the electrical hook up is almost washed out. I just installed the console. It has a plug that has a three-pronged connector with 4 wires going into it. Gray, white, red, red/white. Elree, you solved my blinker tach hookup- How about the console hookup? thanks

Consoles, auto or man, will have a clock connection with gray, back light, and orange, not used, wires and a rear courtesy light connection with orange, light/clock power, and white, ground, wires. The two connections are found on sweep dash harnesses that came in cars with factory installed console or gauge dash harnesses. Auto consoles use the same NS and BU switch connectors found on all harnesses.

"a three-pronged connector with 4 wires going into it. Gray,white,red, red/white"

The two red should be orange. You will need the entension harness(es).

Since I don't have a connector (console add-on) does anyone know how to hook up the console electrically. I have tried to power up clock and lite with different combos but I can't seem to get it to work. I will like to snip the connector and hard wire to fuse, ground, etc. there is a gray, orange doubled up and a white.

You can get power from the fuse box. There are 4 terminals on the right hand side for added stuff. They are marked BAT FUSED, ACC FUSED, IGN FUSED and LAMPS. The BAT terminal is always hot, the ACC terminal is only hot when the key is in the accessory or run position, IGN terminal is only hot when the key is in the run position, LAMPS terminal is only hot when the parking or headlamps are on.

You need a to use the BAT terminal for a clock and/or courtesy light. Use the LAMPS terminal for clock or shifter backlighting. For the courtesy light ground (white wire on colsole harness) simply splice into white wire that goes to door pin switches.
