So im making a mess in my garage, I cant seem to find the pattern to mount my engine on the stand. Is there a certain pattern for which bolts go where? I can get all four on in only 1 pattern. Say they were on the top four holes, then move them all over just 1, its slightly uneven. Will this hold? Im not sure what to do and keep imagining something dropping or breaking.

What kind of stand is it?

Mine holds from the bellhousing bolt holes.

Two bolts are on the holes the the right/left of the top most hole.

The other two are way at the bottom on the outside corners.

Thats what I thought. You know its a BIG Torrin stand, 1000lb, I got it from my work. I tried Every combo possible as did my neighbor, ended up making a new hole right next to it. It wouldnt reach for the crap of me! But things are movin' now smile.gif

You made another hole in the block? That's weird, even my cheap stand can be bolted up just fine.

Use good bolts (like grade 5 or 8) and you should be OK as long as you got 4 bolts in and tight.

One odd thing I found with my engine stand is that the center plate can get upside down -- if it is upside down I cannot get the engine to bolt up correctly.

I think Eric hit it on the head. If you have the mounting plate upside down it looks OK but won't line up right. I spent about 20 minutes on that before, get 2 or 3 bolts in and thats all. Flipped the mount and all was good.
