went to open the door on my 67 and the plunger(for use of a better word)ended up at the bottom of the door. What will I find when I take the door panel off and is it a difficult repair? Thanks for the help.

The hard part is taking off the door panel. The keeper in the handle probably rotated loose. This is an easy fix, unless a part broke. Still, parts, used and repop, are available.

Should also be a spring that makes the 'plunger' pop out and keeps tension on the retainer. The spring could have broken letting the retainer rotate and fall out.

Does the spring connect to the keeper? Both were laying at the bottom of the door.

Found the retainer and spring.Does the retainer go on first then the spring?Where does the rod from the button rest? And should the spring be the same length as the button rod?Sorry for the silly questions.First time I have done this and really don't want to take off the other door panel to compare. Thanks a million.
