Don't know if the later generations partaked of this particular culture that we did way back when;) Nothing like a Friday or Saturday night in a park by a lake watching the Submarine Races. If it was raining - all the better

Here are three songs that I remember from the late sixties while "doing our thing" in the back seat of my 63 Pontiac Convertible.

A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum.
The Rain, The Park and Other Things by The Cowsills.
There's a Kind of Hush by Hermans Hermits.

I'm happy to say my back seat partner from back then will now be my wife of forty years later in 2008.

C'mon now, fess up, you know you did it ;)

BTW - if one of you dudes say anything to Darlene about this at one of the Chevelle Shows your name will be mud  :D

Gordon Lightfoot-Sundown
I can see her lyin back in her satin dress
In a room where ya do what ya dont confess
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you been creepin round my back stairs
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you been creepin round my back stairs
Shes been lookin like a queen in a sailors dream
And she dont always say what she really means
Sometimes I think its a shame
When I get feelin better when Im feelin no pain
Sometimes I think its a shame
When I get feelin better when Im feelin no pain

I can picture every move that a man could make
Getting lost in her lovin is your first mistake
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you been creepin round my back stairs
Sometimes I think its a sin
When I feel like Im winnin when Im losin again

I can see her lookin fast in her faded jeans
Shes a hard lovin woman, got me feelin mean
Sometimes I think its a shame
When I get feelin better when Im feelin no pain
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you been creepin round my back stairs
Sundown ya better take care
If I find you been creepin round my back stairs
Sometimes I think its a sin
When I feel like Im winnin when Im losin again

Cinderella, "Don't know what you've got til it's gone".
Bon Jovi, "Never Say Goodbye".
You and I must be close to the same age. Those bring back some memories.
How about Whitesnake-"Slow an Easy". That was a good one.
Another one that was a bit older but seemed to be popular with the guys was Billy Squier-"The Stroke"
Don - I had a girlfriend back then that use to "hum" to those and several other songs!

Being a teenager in the 80's I remember many of these songs well, and they did the trick then and more than likely now too! ;)

Endless Love, Diana Ross & Lionel Richie
Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now), Phil Collins
Lost In Love, Air Supply
Waiting For A Girl Like You, Foreigner
Take My Breath Away, Berlin
Lady In Red - Chris De Burgh
Almost Paradise - Mike Reno & Ann Wilson
Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler
Keep on Loving You - REO Speedwagon
Love Bites - Def Leppard

Of course anything by Bon Jovi, Poison, Def Leppard, etc. still takes me back 20 years ago and yes I was one that got caught by the cops ~ ahh the memories!

I have learned it's not as fun to get in the backseat of the 69 now, it seems much smaller! ;)

A really old one, but about as suggestive as it gets: "Afternoon Delight" by Starland Vocal Band.

Afternoon Delight
The Starland Vocal Band

Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
gonna grab some afternoon delight.
My motto's always been; when it's right, it's right.
Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night.
When everything's a little clearer in the light of day.
And you know the night is always gonna be there any way.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
looking forward to a little afternoon delight.
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
and the thought of rubbin' you is getting so exciting.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

Started out this morning feeling so polite
I always though a fish could not be caught who wouldn't bite
But you've got some bait a waitin' and I think I might try nibbling
a little afternoon delight.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

Please be waiting for me baby when I come around.
We could make a lot of lovin' 'for the sun goes down.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

Oh yeah! ;)

I worked at an outdoor theater my last 2 years of highschool. For us the lot was divided into 3 areas, the front (families there to see the movie) the middle (the make out rows) and the back (yep, you don't want to know what got picked up in the trash the following day!)

Oh songs like...
"Wake me up before you gogo" -- Wham
"Comma Camellia" -- Boy George
"Everybody wants to rule the world"-- Tears for Fears

Jeez I can't stop laughing... Oh no, now I got those wimpy a$$ songs stuck in my head...

My "Back Seat" songs were:
Night Moves -- Bob Seger (already mentioned)
Just let your love flow -- Bellamy Brothers
Come Monday -- Jimmy Buffet

Although I never had a back seat, I did have a bed... If you ever tried bumpin uglies in the front seat of an El Camino then you will know it take some serious contortionist moves...
I carried a foam bed roll to soften the bed ribs out... :D

In 1956 I hated my dads 55 -210 green 4 door, But it was a nice car to go to the drive-in. Then my new 65 Willow Green full size SS with buckets (YUCK), 66 Caprice with Stereo and silky seats ( not bad)
Hey in 1958 " Wolverton Mountian " Claude King.
" My girl " the Temps, David Ruffin on lead vocal.
And the best one........ We were in my 66 Caprice one night and she was going through my glove box collecting the yellow TV stamps and S&H green stamps and the Sunoco " spell the word Camaro slips" And she found an INSTANT WINNER ticket for a 69 Camaro.
The 66 Caprice had a real nice soft silky "BIG " front seat.
If you want to have some real fun, Go parking in a 70 SS 454 " EL CAMINO " With a bench seat and Muncie Shift handle. That was a very tough " GET-ER-DONE situtation !
All of the above could be a lie ?
Or it could be true, I report you decide?
Bob
" SUNNY " Yesterday my life was filled with rain, SUNNY you smiled at me, and then I never realy felt the same.
Sunny was so true, I love you !!!
