When putting new wheels on with a big lip, what needs to be done or known when doing the suspension? I'm getting the Hotchkis standard suspension kit and want to make sure I can fit wheels with a big lip. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What do you mean wheels "with a big lip"?

There are much better aftermarket suspensions for the same or less money than the Hotchkiss stuff. If you haven't make a purchase yet, check out www.scandc.com.

"Big lip" is like the rear wheel on this chevelle. The rim is set inward, making the lip big. Is there anything special needed to do that? Thanks.

Depends on the width of the wheel and the backspacing. I think the design of that wheel makes it look like a bigger lip than it is. You're looking at the wheel between the spokes.

I think a 10 inch wheel with 5.5 inch back spacing is about max in a stock Chevelle, depending also on the tire size since a tire that sticks out from the wheel can cause interference.

With a wide wheel, you have to watch out for the shock mount on the inside (I think this can be avoided if you go with big enough wheels, not sure, though) and the lip around the wheel opening on the fender. So without modification, those are what limit your wheel dimensions.

What size are you looking at?

Tim.

I'm looking to do maybe 18" or 19" in the front and 20" in the back. Not sure about the tire size or width yet. Thanks for the advice.
