Ok guys, I bought a Flowmaster American Thunder exhuast for my chevelle last summer. It came with the 30 series mufflers. I believe they are 3 chamber. Now I do like the way they sound. It's kind of a haunting rumble. I like them much better than the series 50's, but I just don't think they have a deep enough sound. I let my dad borrow the car the other day and when he took off it just wasn't raspy enough. Now I do have a 305 so I know my motor is going to have a real raspy idle but are 40 series flows better sounding. How much louder are they. I noticed they are pretty cheap nowadays. Has anybody had experience with summits chambered mufflers at all. I think that would be a true muscle car sound, after all thats all I want. Any feedback would be great

Have you checked their soundbites before?
Flowmaster Mufflers (http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/cgi-bin/flowmaster/mufflers.html)
I think you can compare the different mufflers very well with them.
I'm thinking about the American Thunder System too, were you satisfied, apart from the 30's sound?

Its hard to get that "sound" with a stock motor..there are many variables, such as CID,cam selection, headers or manifolds, etc. If you want the true musclecar sound IMHO,true duals without the H or X is the way to go.

Dare I suggest you try another set of mufflers, a straight through design might give both a deeper and raspier tone. If the 30s are the same length as Summit turbos, I'd spend the $30 and try them.

Ya 71 velle, I highly recomend the system. I got for 270 bucks out of Summit which is a really good deal considering that the mufflers are usually over $100 each. You can buy the system for $200 with out the mufflers as well. Me and a friend of mine who had a welder and some exhuast tools put it together in an afternoon. Everything fits real good. Don't get me wrong I don't hate the mufflers I'm just looking for something louder. I do have 1 5/8 ceramic coat headers too. I think I'll try out the 40 series. I've seen them on ebay for $30 a piece.
