I am installing an MSD e-curve distributor in my 454 right now. It had original points distributor. I have installed the msd according to instructions, red to coil +, orange to coil -, black to ground. I am running a hot 12v 10 gauge wire right off the battery to the coil + (just for now to get it to fire, then will properly wire from ign in fuse block).

I'll be darned, but I can't get a spark out of this thing. Nothing. I checked with my meter at the coil, getting 12 + volts at the pos side. Cranks fine, just no spark at the plug. I've pulled a plug and have it in the boot and grounded, just no spark at all.

Using a proven msd blaster 2 coil, which has been running my points setup no problem, so I know thats not it, either. I bench tested the distributor before install and it sparked the plug just fine.

I've searched this site extensively and read every thread I could on hei conversions and on this distributor.

Can anybody see what I'm missing ? I'm confused. :confused:

What on the coil do you have grounded to the block?

Where is the Black wire from the 8394 grounded? You may need to relocate this to the block or battery negative terminal for a better ground.

Check the voltage to the coil+ terminal while the engine is cranking.
