: Hey KJett
USFATL Mar 11th, 05, 1:03 PM Hey Kenny,
Congrats on making the Semi's at Commerce last weekend. What did the old girl run? The race results didn't show your times. 3rd place in the first race, no too shabby!!
See ya later.
kjett Mar 11th, 05, 1:34 PM Hey, Steve. Long time no talk/see smile.gif Thanks for the cudos, but I was still second loser :( I should/could have won that round ( similar reaction times) but I only had about 2 gallons of fuel in the tank and uncovered the fuel pickup on launch (stock tank, no sump). Guess I need to run with a tank full of race fuel at $5.50 a gallon. Car ran 1.55 60', 6.69@104.79 and 10.50@129 deep staged running into a 20-30MPH headwind. Are you coming back to the track this season? Hopefully we'll see you out there soon. Here's a low resolution picture that my wife got with the cam corder:

Georgia69 Mar 11th, 05, 2:59 PM Wow Kenny, I don't remember seeing that much air under your tires last year! Congrats again! I'm still sidelined with a busted tranny. Spent all winter looking forward to racing season, and trashed my tranny less than a week before the season opener.

CDN SS Mar 11th, 05, 7:21 PM Nice times Ken, 129mph making power smile.gif what have you done to rear suspension car is really launching level Bill
USFATL Mar 11th, 05, 7:47 PM Nice launch Kenny! With a little track time on that new engine you will be something to contend with at Commerce. I do plan on making it to the track a few times this year. I have replumbed my fuel system because I was leaning out at high rpm's. And done a little tuning. I am supposed to head up to Lamar's for a little dyno tuning in the next couple of weeks.
See ya at the track
Harold Sutton Mar 11th, 05, 9:48 PM Kjet, it's leaving real nice. That is just about the perfect attitude, keeps the car from bouncing and loosing E.T. Do you have an anti-roll bar on the rear end? I love those '66 Chevelles, especially red ones. The weather going to be nice here tomorrow and my son's nitrous is nearly right, we may get an eight second run if it's not too hot.
Purs Mar 11th, 05, 11:05 PM nice pic Ken! keep us posted.
DragRacer Mar 12th, 05, 7:44 AM Looks great Ken! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Congratulations on going some round. Keep us posted on how it's progressing.
kjett Mar 12th, 05, 7:56 AM Thanks guys. I removed the no-hop bars on the rear. I think that once you reach a certain power level (mid 10's maybe) the no-hop bars become counter productive (too much anti-squat).
Harold, I'm using the HRPartsNStuff bolt on anti roll bar.
While I'm pretty happy with the way the car is working, all the rear suspension parts are coming off in a few weeks and I'll be installing Alf Wiebe's setup. I'm anxious to see how this will work. Ed Bigley turned me onto Alf a couple years ago. I've spoken with Alf on a number of occassions and he is really up on these A-body cars. It will be interesting to see how his setup works on another Chevelle (we already know it works well on Ed's car). Alf said that the additional 3" long wheelbase of the '66 makes it a bit more challanging. I'm hopeful I will see some 1.3x short times. That would allow my car to run closer to its full potential.
Harold Sutton Mar 12th, 05, 9:10 AM I also have an early model Chevelle, a Bolero Red '67. The early cars definately don't bite as well as the later models. My son's '70 has a 1.315 - 60' to its credit and has close to stock suspension locating points. The secret to getting one to 60 is putting on a set of M/T 10.5W x 28" E.T. Drags on a set of 10" Weld Alumistars. This tire and wheel combination took over a tenth off of our 60". The early cars ride twice as good as the '68 and later cars, as i've had both.
kjett Mar 12th, 05, 9:17 AM Harold,
In a perfect world I would agree about the 10.5W, but there is no way you'll get a 10.5W under a stock '66-'67 car. In fact, I'm not sure a 10" rim with any backspacing configuration will fit. I'm currently running an 8" Weld Draglite in the rear. This is definitely less than optimal. A friend of mine that I race with has 15x10 wheels on his Camaro. I'm going to try and mount those on my car at some point to get an idea of clearance. I'm not sure what BS his wheels are but I sort of doubt they will fit.
Well, off to another points race. Have a good day.
CDN SS Mar 12th, 05, 10:13 AM Alf Weibe Suspension graemlins/thumbsup.gif Looked into it for my car but in reality mine not a serious race car so not suitable for street .... feedback I got from local racers was excellent ( did not know some locals had it on their race cars) ... plan to drop in to see Alf at his shop next month when in VCR ....
