Ive often wondered why people buy these expensive mail order exhaust kits when a shop will do the same job for the same money.

But from what I understand, in some parts of the country, local exhaust shops are a bit more scarce, not as talented and daring, and not as cheap as Im used to.

However, I strongly recommend researching that route first, since it will save you a lot of aggravation of "is it straight?"

Well, one of the "local shops" here wanted to charge me $225.00 JUST for the pipe from my headers to the mufflers with turndowns/dumpdowns. So, mail order would be cheaper for just ordinary pipe.
But, I would as Big Block Dave suggested, check the local area, or anyone that would put true duals on it. The EPA and the other government agencies are heavy in some areas.
Also, depending on what setup you have in your car, a 3" exhaust may hurt your performance. You can do a search to find out more or truly correct info on that. The downfall to the 3" may be just old news to me. ;)

They sell a 3" system complete minus mufflers for less than $200 that fit Chevelles/and other A bodies

Most shops can only die bend the pipe. Thats a big difference. The largest local speed shop sells 180s , mandrel bent, in 2.5", 3" and 3.5" pipe.

The 3.5" is downright scary. tongue.gif

Anyway, it allows any good muffler shop to have the over the axle mandrel bent, albeit with more weld seams.

I was looking at the Jeg's 3" kit also, it looks really nice and the mandrel bending is what has me leaning towards them over getting a system bent up, Plus I can buy the pipes and then get the mufflers I want vs. some complete exhaust kits.

is torque tech still around. Comes pre bent for your year car and is mandrel. Can get stainless if you like but I don't know if there still around usually in the back of car mags. I didn't think they were so expensive when you consider it comes pre fit for your year car.
