Hi.....I need some help figuring out a nitrous combo to race in the PSCA Limited Street class. Class rules are here: http://www.pscaracing.com/Rules/rules_04_limitedstreet.html . I'm mainly going with Nitrous due to the money factor(I'm only 19) and I think it would be easiest for me to tune. Here's my combo that I've thought up so far(This is still all on paper so please nit-pick as much as you can). Pretty much my goals are for low 9's in my 68 Malibu, so weight is going to be a HUGE factor. This is going to be DRAG ONLY

Engine - 406:
-Dart Little M Iron Block
-~12:1
-Wiseco Pistons(1.12 Comp. Height)
-Oliver 6.00" Rods
-Callies 3.75 DragonSlayer crank
-? Piston Rings
-Canfield 220cc heads(As far as valvetrain I'm not certain yet)
-Lunati *Hydraulic FT* cam(Maybe Harold can shed some light?)
-Dart Single Plane Intake
-Pro-Systems built 800cfm carb
-NOS Big Shot(300+ hp)
-Magnaflow QuikStar300 pump & filter
-Magnaflow bypass regulator
-XRP Fuel hose
-5 Gallon Fuel Cell
-Mezziere Elec. Water pump
-Late model GM pick up radiator
-Canton Oil pan
-Melling Hi-Volume oil pump
-MSD Distributor, Programable Digital 7 Ignition box
-Moroso Ultra 40 Spark plug wires

Driveline:
-J&W built TH400
-Denny's Nitrous Ready driveshaft
-Moser 12-bolt with full spool

Suspenion:
Front-
-TRZ Upper and GW lower control arms with Del-A-Lum bushings
-? Springs
-QA1 shocks

Rear-
-All Dick Miller Setup w/ Anti-Roll bar
-QA1 shocks

Wheels&Tires:
-What was the brand wheel Racer1320 was using? Monaque or something?
-28x11.5 ET Streets

Other:
-Chromemoly 14 point cage
-Mostly stock interior
-Aluminum drag seats
-Fire extiguisher system

So pretty much I need about 850+ hp and need to be around 3500(ouch) pounds to meet my goals. Any oddball things please tell about and if I forgot anything, I'm sorry. Thanks to any and all help!!!!!

just a couple of observations...why only 12-1? you will have to use race gas anyways..id go 13-1 atleast. and why oh why use a hydraulic flat tappet cam??? This engine will want to rev..let it..either a big solid flat tappet or a solid roller(best bet)

1. The 12:1 is just a number so far. I dont wanna shoot too high and have astronomical cylindar pressures when the nitrous is engaged(or maybe I'm too conservative?) and the cam not be able to bleed off the excess.

2. The Hydraulic flat tappet cam is mandatory in this class. I would love to run a solid roller, but I cant.

Trevor,
Racer uses 10" Weld Pro Stars with 10.5 slicks.

Spend the money and talk to Jeff Prock at Applied Nitrous Tecgnology, top nitrous tuner in the business and a nice guy. I garantee your competition will be talking to him.

Trevor,

Since you have to use a hydraulic cam, are you limited on rocker ratios? If not, look for some 1.65:1 or 1.7:1 rockers, even 1.8:1 if possible.
Lunati has a custom-ground hydraulic, the 01-UH8-UH16-13-A01. This cam is 308/316 at .006", 255/263 at .050", .625"/.630" valve lift with 1.7s, and 113° LSA, ground 4° advanced. With these rockers, this cam is 3° smaller at .200 on the intake than a CC 288-5 ROLLER CAM,and 3° BIGGER on the exhaust than their CC 296-6.
If you have to run a hydraulic, this is about the best we can do. The 1.8s give .662"/.667" valve lift, and you run out of springs going any higher.
Hope this helps,

UDHarold

69,

Thanks, I will definatly get in touch with Jeff once I get this prject rolling.

Harold,

I can run any ratios as I please. Whats the expected RPM range of that cam? I really don't want to spin this past 7500 if at all possible.

Thanks for the help guys...I apreciate it. Keep it comming though.

If your lookin at 850 flywheel HP you'll be at the bottom of the ladder everytime you qualify. You will need 850 to the rear wheels and 1050 at the flywheel to go rounds at 3500lbs.

Loosing 300lbs would be a huge help in meeting your goals. Also do you really know what your getting into? You may have more fun in the 10.60 index and your wallet will stay fat!

Nitrous isn't cheap when your going rounds with a 300-350 shot. Your talkin a bottle a pass at $45 a bottle, unless you have your own filling station. I think blower is the way to go in that class.

i'm 19 and i definetly could not afford to run heads up.

It would be alot easier on your wallet if you want Bracket racing instead, and you'd probably win more money.

Yeah, you're probably right, I'll just start off in a bracket class. By the looks of things, this wouldn't be race ready for at least 4 years. Oh well, I'll start racing big time when I have enough money for a Super Comp Dragster project graemlins/thumbsup.gif . Thanks for bringing me back to reality :D .
