: sunoco race gas
bowtie455 Apr 6th, 04, 1:20 PM recently i have been hearing commercials for sunoco gas on the radio.in the future i will be using their race gas because of personal preference.here in 'bama i haven't seen any sunoco gas stations in the birmingham area.i know of one drag strip that sells it at the track(at track prices) graemlins/sad.gif does sunoco sell race gas from the pump at their gas stations? i used to buy turbo blue and union76 race fuel(from the pump) from a coupla local places but they have closed up and moved on.what does sunoco race fuel cost per gallon?
Patrick O'Rourke Apr 6th, 04, 1:28 PM We have some ole rat hole around the corner from me that sells it. It's not a sunoco station, they just have a pump out by itself with sunoco on it next to the propane.
Also if you live in an agriculture area, ck some of the stations around the farms, when in the service in Georgia, I would see race gas at these stations.
SSchevy400 Apr 6th, 04, 8:23 PM Up here Theres a Sunoco that has 110 Leaded at the pump for 4.99 a gallon. Cam 2 its called
bowtie455 Apr 7th, 04, 11:25 AM thanks, guys.
blazerbob Apr 7th, 04, 11:34 AM Up here in boonies of Eureka, CA I pay a whopping 5.25\gal of Sunoco 110! But how else can you have so much fun for the money?! :D
67SS_MASS Apr 7th, 04, 12:09 PM I would love to find a gas station in Mass that sells 110....
GRN69CHV Apr 7th, 04, 1:27 PM The Sunoco Purple Pump Race Gas is 100 octane - unleaded. There is no more lead in any motor vehicle fuel available from a pump. But truthfully, I can't see where anything higher than 94 octane is needed for anything other than a 12.0/1 or higher engine or a supercharged high boost engine, if the cam / compression are mtched correctly.
SSchevy400 Apr 7th, 04, 11:14 PM Yea they have both...100 and 110 at the pumps. The 100 is safe for all cars, the 110 says "For Off Road Use Only" You cant fill your car at the pump with it, or not suppose to. But they have 110 Purple Cam 2 at the pumps here.

ejrempel Apr 7th, 04, 11:24 PM As usuall, being Canadian has a cost attached to it. Take $5.25 a gallon gas, convert from U.S. to Imperial gallons makes it $5.25 x 1.25 = $6.56 per gallon. Multiply by 1.35 for the dollar, and you get $6.56 x 1.35 = $8.85 per gallon. If you could buy it for that. But you can't. I paid 47 bucks with two taxes {yup, taxes on taxes, that's why there was a Boston Tea Party} for 3 gallons. My oh my how it costs to be a sanctimonious Canadian.
You're right. I am feeling pretty good tonight!
BlueSS454 Apr 8th, 04, 12:27 AM The only place to get the Sunoco Race Fuels here are at Atco Raceway. I take the 70 there every couple months for a nice jolt. They have the purple (110), and the blue (112). They also have some red fuel there, octane is higher, but I forget what it is, and some VP race fuel as well as all the alcohol fuels. I have been known to give my 86 Cutlass a half tank of the purple stuff from time to time too :D :D :D .
GRN69CHV Apr 8th, 04, 8:26 AM Probably the 110 is being sold by an independent Sunoco dealer that is overlooking where it is sold, but they are only supposed to sell it for off-road vehicles.
bowtie455 Apr 8th, 04, 1:25 PM i'm planning on either 13:1 or 14:1 c.r...i haven't decided between the two yet.i'm leaning towards 14:1 considering the high duration of my chosen cam,but i hate to shave my brand new iron eagles.reckon i can bump it up 1 tick without shaving the heads? maybe a zero deck and a thinner head gasket? i'm going with wiseco pro-tru 13:1 domes,6" rods and 64cc chambers.
pdq67 Apr 8th, 04, 7:57 PM Can any of you buy E85 in your areas??
85 percent ethanol and 15 percent unleaded with a schosh of, (I figure), biodiesel thrown in for a little extra lube.
Sould be good for at least 12 to 12.5 to 1 CR. b/c I think it is at least 100 to 105 octane depending on the mix..
All the FFV vehicles that are being sold can run on it except they aren't high enough compression to take advantage of it's high octane b/c they also have to be able to run 87 octane unleaded..
