Hello, new to the site....did so searching before posting but did no find what i needed, here we go....trying to install a mallory ign sys......seems pretty straight foward.brown to ground, green to neg of coil, red to switched ignition and also switched ignition source to pos of coil, right?.I know mallory wants some kind of resistance wire to pos of coil,my chevelle(1968)looks like it has that resistance wire...white cloth like braided wire, not original, looks like some one soldered it in at one time(bad job too).my question.......if i do a voltage check at this wire with ignition on,am i going to get full 12v or some kind of drop voltage????thanx

thats the resister wire. you need to check it while running to get a true voltage. usually about 9 volts

well....cant really say that i agree or disagree..at least yet.The only reason i say that is because i my self have never used mallory....I do agree with u on the HEI...used it for years and had no problems, only reason i switched to mallory is because it was free(some one owed me 100 dollars)did some research and the sys is well over $100,this dude told me he tried to install in in his nova once so it was fairly new,im willing to bet that he screwed something up,once i get it to run and starts to give me problems you better belive that it going straight into that junk pile.
