We all look every place for parts for our cars, but do you compare used prices to what a repo price is? I know when I look for parts and I find something on Ebay or where ever I also look it up on sites like Ground Up and compare the price. If the used price is 35.00 and the repro part is 40.00 I'd rather buy the repro part. There's no right or wrong answer just wondering how others feel.:)

The problem with Repro-v-NOS-v-used is three fold.
Repro.
Pros~new
Cons~Not always good quality, Doesn't always fit right, Thinner metal.
NOS
Pros~New, Same manufacture as the part that was on your car, Fit is usually perfect.
Cons~Hard to find, Can be very Expensive.
Used
Pros~Usually cheaper than Repro., Much cheaper than NOS, Fit should be perfect.
Cons~Some sellers thing they have gold, May end up with a part that is worse than the one that you're replacing.

X2! I try to keep everything "GM" by using either NOS or gently used, but sometimes you can't beat repro, especially if its of decent quality.

It all depends on what your restoring and how original you want the car to be. A lot of repro parts just don't fit the same or have that certain quality of original parts. Some repro parts are so horrible that guys will pay 5 times the cost for an NOS part. It's not always about the cheapest way to go, it's about the quality of the restoration. If I needed a perfect 70 SS dash housing and I had a choice between the repro for 325 or a perfect original for 800-1000, I'm buying the original. Again, it's all about what your restoring.

I always try to get gm or used for sheet metal and interior. I worked for a gm parts department and did a lot of work with the bodyshop. I always tried to get OEM parts or used parts
rather than aftermarket. I even would discount parts, had a lot of arguments with insurance adjusters, I always took care of my customers, I never wanted junk on my vehicle so why would a customer. I saw a lot of aftermarket parts that would not line up.
