: Can I make old chrome look new again?

I would like to reuse my original outer door handles for my 70 Chevelle. They still work fine but they oxidized and no longer have any shine. There arent any pits or flaking chrome. What is the best way to make them look better? Should I use chrome polish? Mabye wet sand them with 3000 and then polish? Steel wool and then polish?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

just try some chrome polish on a rag....no steel wool...if that doesn't work, rechrome them, or just buy new ones.. they are repop'd now...

I know that they are available in the aftermarket, I am just hoping to reuse them without spending too much.

Have some Eagle Wheels Chrome cleaner, it is as good as anything I have ever used. Would imagine any good line of Chrome Cleaner from Mother's or Meguires's would be good.

Thanks guys, I'll see if I can find some Mothers polish and see what happens.

If that doesn't work, see if you can find Simichrome. It's expensive and hard to find, but it's the absolute best polish on the market for chrome and aluminum. Bar none!
