I'd like to install AC while I am in the process of restoring my 69 SS396. The car did not come with it only has Astro Ventilation. I want to install factory air. Where can I get a list of parts needed? Where to buy them? I know Vintage Air offers a kit, but I don't thinks it's factory style? Am I wrong?

I did the conversion on my 64 Chevelle and the Firewall is different. You will have to get the A/C Firewall from a Factory A/C Car. I drilled out all of the factory spot welds, separated the firewall and plug welded the new one in place. It was definitely worth it.

Unless you are building a totally correct car going back with an original A/C is a very complicated and expensive project. The Classic unit will run with the A-6 compressor, giving you some original look with modern technology. Not to mention a cleaner engine compartment.

It was definitely worth it.it can be done a little easier by making a template and welding the hole up and re-cutting your new hole a bout 2.5 hr Worth of work when finished unnoticeable and all your punch holes are there you just need to drill them out 69 and 72
