228/234 duration at .050, .480/.494 gross lift, 110 degree lobe seperation
Will be used in a 350 Chevy engine with a TH350 transmission and somewhere between a 3.42-3.73 rear gear with a 26 inch tall tire.

Not 3K !!! ;) Saw your post in the trans section too, lol. smile.gif 2500 is the most you want with that combo or you will just be running too far past the torque peak. That cam in your motor should make good power in the 2500-6500 range IMO.

Olandi, the cam that's currently in my engine now is a 220 duration.
This new cam (228 duration) is part of a performance package.
The idea was to buy a stall speed compatible with both. That way I don't have to worry about having to change it again when I finally do a cam swap.
So this 228 duration cam only needs a 2500 stall? Won't it be poochy?

Not in my opinion. It is not a big difference in camshafts. Many times guys end up with too loose of a converter and then complain about poor performance. That duration is not real long, thus my recommendation of around 2500 for a stall speed. That cam likely has good power from 2500 to 6500.

My guess would be 2200-2500 stall graemlins/hurray.gif

Thanx...say...is there any kind of chart avaliable that shows what stall converter speed should be used with what type of cam? I'd like to know just what really determines what stall speed a cam requires to operate properly.

There are too many variables to have a guaranteed generic chart, you have to look at the entire combo being run to determine the correct stall speed. Some general rules though are more camshaft/intake port volume/carb size/etc. means more stall speed needed to get the engine to the torque range it likes to run in.

Agree with Steve. Most stall 2500rpm or if you put in lets say 3000 or higher, would out of torque range for your combo. Go with 23-2500 and you will feel the power! ;)
