Got a restored 70 chevelle that will be street driven on sundays, and an occasional session of pavement blistering.
Here's what I am planning:
Would like it to be hydraulic flat tappet. Outside chance it could be a roller though.
383 SBC
SRP Flat tops -5cc
6" Rods
68cc AFR 195 street heads
zero deck
1 5/8 or 1 7/8 headers
Performer rpm air gap
Rear gear will probably be a 373. It's got a 456 now and I got a hunch that aint gonna work.
Any other info needed for a cam recommendation?
Thanks for the help

Get up with Lunati, one of UDHarolds hyd F/T`s but custom ground one would work.
I`d do a 296 adv 239 @.050 .507 (put 1.6`s on both for .541 lift) single pattern 108 sep.
IF you have a TH350/400 a 3000 rpm converter with 3.55 or 3.73 gears will work just fine for what you want.

If you want to go with BigRed-L72's suggestion, that cam is a 01-UH15-UH15-08-A01, and it works just fine, strong mid-range and top-end.
The Lunati 276 VooDoo, part # 60104, works fine also, with a little more bottom-end. It is 276/284 at the seat, 233/241 at .050, .504/.525 vlave lift, and 110 LSA. Those are in stock.

BigRed-L72 and UDHarold. Thanks for the replies.
I have a factory 4 speed stick car and want to keep it like that. It's not an automatic. Does this change your recommendations on a cam?
Thanks again.

No, you'll just have more fun! smile.gif If you wnat a healthy lope and don't run PB you can tighten up the lobe separation some, but cam selection will not be that much different at all. IF its an M21/22 with the shallow 1st gear, the second smaller cam would be better with a 3.70 rear gear.

I suggest going right in between the two with about 286º advertised on a 110 LSA (106 ICL). It matches very well with your CR. I think the 276º will push the DCR too high for pump gas.

What I`ve done that would be somewhat along the lines that Pat Kelly is suggestioning is to use a set of Rhoads lifters on the bigger cam.
They will take off about 10 degrees of duration then be all in by 3000-3500 rpm +/- .

with the AFR heads and no power adder i would stay with the single patter cam.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.
Here's one that I would like some comments on.
Same app as stated above. looks to be a 10.5 CR.
284 ADV, 232 @.050, 491 lift, 108 LSA, asemetrical lobe, single pattern cam.
What do you guys think?
Thanks for the replies.

A good smaller cam would be a UD/Lunati hyd F/T: 288/288 adv. 231/231 @ .050 .485/.485 ( use 1.6`s on both sides for .517 lift) 108 or 110 sep.
I used a dual pattern version (110 sep) ran strong.
