I was wondering if anyone knew the weight of an empty 396 block. I am looking at shipping a 396 cross country and need to let the freight guys know.

Thanks, Phil

If your not in a hurry ,head over to your local airport.
Check for air shippers online and call and ask for airport to airport delivery.
You can get stuff shipped on what's basically standby to another airport for a reasonable price.
They simply use it to take up space and charge a lower rate.

I ended up renting a car for a week with Avis. A Chevy HHR. Drove it from San Diego to Salem, OR. Got a discount on the rental, took a mini vacation, and still came out cheaper than lowest shipping quote. Got 31MPGs with two in the car + the block and crank. Unlimited miles on the car and a free days rental with coupon. If you have the time and want to travel, you can often beat shipping prices. Phil

I looked and I looked and I said to myself, what do tractors have to do with women, Ohhh, It was Shippers. My brain got shaken by that earthquake the other day. That thing shook me so hard it woke me from my nap. Always something.
