Does anyone have any traction device preference for a Manuel trans car (69 454 Chevelle) verses an automatic trans car? If my old memory serves me, the Automatic guys seem to like the "SSM" set-up while the stick-shift guys tend to prefer the "No-Hop" (Edelbrock,Lakewood etc.) system. All opinions are appreciated. I've got the no-hops on my TH-400 equipped '68 'Camino. Work fine. Haven't used the SSM units, and I've never ridden in a car that had them.
If I was going to do it over again, I'd be looking into a truck arm conversion.

IMHO and experience,SSM's work great with either auto or manual equally.
Thats with the stock uppers, and F41 rear swaybar and the extra 2 braces.

I used SSM's on my stick car. Never tried the no-hops though, I have an Olds axle and I wasn't sure if the no-hops would attatch to it like they would to a chevy axle.
Don't know how much they helped traction.... I've gotten a best of 2.00 60ft. time with 255 Radial T/A's. I really need to try some slicks.
The SSM's DID take care of the voilent wheel hop I had though. smile.gif Now it just spins...... hehe!
