ok here is my current set up:
350 bored +.03 355
speed pro slugs 9.27:1 with 64cc heads
crane powermax cam 272º/84º .454/.480lift

ok the question is i have a pair of vortec heads laying in the garage, is it worth cutting them for larger valves? this will be a street car but i want as much power as i can get with the vortecs, also should i change my cam?

I'd go with the vortecs...my sons 355 has flat tops with 4 valve reliefs,,,compression around 10-1...we started out with a crane energizer cam it ran 13.70's-13.80's in his 81 p/u...two lobes/lifters went bad after 6 months(not sure if it was too much spring pressure or the cam),swapped in the Lunati BM II cam .480 lift and now it runs 13.50's-13.60's which is perfect for the truck index(13.50) class they have at the track we race at. We ordered the vortecs from scoggin dickey w/Z28 springs which are supposed to be good to .525 lift.
