I recently purchased a re-manufactured G.M. Tilt Column for a 1966 Chevelle. It tilts UP only One Notch and DOWN Three Notches and almost touches the seat! Sounds Backwards to me. I sent it back to the builder and he stated thats the way it's supposed to be. I would value a Chevy enthusiasts opinion. Does that operation sound correct? Thanks, Chris

My 70 tilt column can go way down also, compared to how little it goes up.

But it goes up just enough, so that's what matters.

Sounds like yours was correct.

Don't you remember? Back in the 60's we were all slim and trim, the wheel needed to go down. Nobody complained back then. Now were all fat and don't fit the car anymore!

Both my '68 Caprice and '68 Chevelle do not go up as far as they go down. Two '71s that I have had were the same way.
