: A field of Chevelles & Elkys
crustyz11 May 19th, 08, 2:43 AM This guy lives 15 minutes from my house. He started collecting 68-72 Chevelle/Elky stuff years ago with the intent to fix them up as a hobby once he retired. Well, now he's retired and doesn't feel like messing with the stuff. The field cars are pretty bad but inside the 2 semi trailers are all the good parts. I'm talking all kinds of big block blocks, heads, a.i.r. pumps, n.o.s. trim still in the GM plastic, cowl hoods with all the functional bits, TH400's, 4-spd's. The list goes on and on.
Enjoy crying and drooling at the pics!

hpsherlin May 19th, 08, 8:32 AM An older local guy who once owned a chevy dealership had a locked barn full of old chevy parts. A locked room inside this locked barn had shelves full of nothing but GM aluminum heads and intakes. I went by to see him the other day and he had sold EVERYTHING to one person who was coming to pick it up in a semi trailer.
He said he couldn't resist the price for lock, stock, and barrel.
Cool about the cars in the field. Wish his dream could have come true about fixing some of them up.
Dean May 19th, 08, 9:00 AM My kind of guy.
72 malibu May 19th, 08, 9:41 AM Neat - all look pretty used up. Like to see inside the trailer.
kettbo May 19th, 08, 10:32 AM Too bad this was in WI. If this was NM or AZ those cars would be good-to-go!
Bowtie-72 May 19th, 08, 3:55 PM Krass and Bernie's shop? Looks like a guy bought a bunch of parts cars and couldn't bear to see them go.
crustyz11 May 19th, 08, 3:57 PM Yeah, it does suck that they're all rusted out. I'm going to call him next week to see if he'll let me take pics in the trailers.:D
Yes it's all for sale, but he's trying to get it all sorted out to sell it online. Once he gets it squared away, this will be the first place i'll notify.

lloydt2442 May 19th, 08, 5:44 PM wow!!!!! Ive never seen so much scrap metal in my life!:D:D jk! I wish these cars would have been in a dryer area like texas, oklahoma, new mexico, ARIZONA! they would be jewels!
RyanNilcea05 May 19th, 08, 5:51 PM Very Sad. That First White '70 Had Red Buckets.
highlandlake May 19th, 08, 9:32 PM My kind of guy.
A guy who throws a SNOWBLOWER and TV's into the engine bay of a '70???
Why not into the bed of one of the Elky's??
It would have been less work.
It was both sad and funny at the same time to see that.
I'll bet that scene can be found in a thousand other fields in this country. "gonna fix 'em up someday'...........
704EVER May 19th, 08, 9:56 PM Just another crazy with a field of dreams! It's too bad he let most of it go to waste. Outside of the TT's which seem to be for sale, the rest looks like it's worth more for scrap.
Philip May 19th, 08, 10:12 PM I really need a pair of steel inner fenders, GM not the reproductions, looks like there are lots sitting in that field.
glennslanaker May 20th, 08, 12:12 AM why the quantity over quality thing? in high school in the late 80's i knew a guy who had 6-8 '67 chevelles. one or two ran, nothing was nice. probably still has them and still not restored. for every ten guys who say they are 'going to restore someday...', one actually does.
this guy just has a field of scrap iron, but good news for him is that it's going for about $100 a ton now. even in our present day when people will restore cars that should be junked, these would be just too far gone.
crustyz11 May 20th, 08, 7:34 AM I think some of you might be getting the wrong idea here. This guy is a genuinely cool guy that started to collect parts and parts cars while he was working weeks at a time out west. The field cars were bought mostly for trim and small items, while all the good stuff remains in the 2 semi trailers. I'm not done posting pics (i promise to finish by this weekend!) of the rest of the stuff.
He's got a 68 or 69 Elky that's pretty nice in the pole building and the last time i inquired about it i thought he said $10K. I did get 2 pics of that but you'll have to wait till later.
Stay tuned!

How do you know he did that?

There are many fields like that here! most of the people will slam the door in your face when you ask somethin about a car! there is one field here that a 70 ss chevelle sits with the matching numbers 396, 4 speed, 12 bolt in it. and guess what!? They wont sell it! It was his grandmothers car and he is going to restore it someday! And the only reason it got parked is because someone stole the battery out of it!Its set there for 15 years is what they told me and now when you drive by they have let the grass around it grow so high you cant even see it. I just dont understand people............................................ .....................

I've had the same problem. The car below was in one of those fields and I tried to buy it years ago. It was very restorable and even ran. It was better than the one I ended up restoring. I heard the old man died so I stopped by to try and buy it again...this is what his son did to it. Someone beat me to it and only wanted the roof and front clip!!

Krister May 20th, 08, 2:04 PM And these where the cool finds back in Jr High and High School we would come across riding our dirt bikes on very back roads in Northern Wisconsin. With a few simple tools you would ride off with cool pieces of chrome, emblems and valve covers to decorate our basement hang out. Now 30 years later I still have this wall art, but now decorating my shop.

malibu400 May 20th, 08, 6:08 PM I don't think the engine swap from the snowblower to the 70 is gonna work :D
Freddy Mercado May 20th, 08, 6:54 PM Too bad man. Alot of cars there could have been saved..... Not now!
prefectca May 20th, 08, 8:35 PM I don't think the engine swap from the snowblower to the 70 is gonna work :D
Where was that thread about a gas mileage forum? That snowblower engine swap would be a good gas saver.http://bestsmileys.com/cars/14.gif
highlandlake May 20th, 08, 10:14 PM That snowblower cracks me up.
One could pop a nut heaving that thing up in there.
There's probably a good story behind how and why that was the final resting place for it.
crustyz11 May 21st, 08, 7:56 AM Ummmm, northern WI.;)

camarofreak May 21st, 08, 9:14 AM Hey crustyz i sent you a couple pms about some things can you get back to me when you get a chance?? thanx
Hate to see all that iron rot!!
ftgallant May 21st, 08, 4:58 PM Wow! sad to see all the cool iron wasting away. Seems to be a nice 69 SS elky in last pic. Also quite a few 67-72 Chevy trucks.

ftgallant May 22nd, 08, 7:28 AM Now I am getting mad at this guy, thats a 66 SS front clip! Make me mad enough to cry.
TripleWhiteSS454 May 22nd, 08, 9:12 AM I might've missed it in a previous post, but what is under the car cover? Certainly has the shape of an A-body. Whatever it is has a hitch on it. Gave me flashbacks of my uncle's '70 Buick GS 455 that he bought in the early 70's. He slapped a hitch on it and used to tow a small trailer around for vacations.
MEJ1990TM May 22nd, 08, 3:58 PM That is almost enough to make a grown man cry. :(
Andy69 May 22nd, 08, 4:06 PM that's pretty neato
chevy kevy May 23rd, 08, 1:54 PM as sad as it is to see these cars in the shape there in, it is also pretty cool to
see so many and all the parts. If I was driving by and saw this I would shure
make an attempt to walk through there and see it all. Pretty neat stuff:thumbsup:
70SS454VA May 25th, 08, 5:13 PM nice domed ss hood on that 72
