Hey everybody. I wasn't sure wher to post this but I thought I would try here. I would like any big block engine pics you have of the engine installed. I am trying to find valve covers that fit my big block that won't hit the booster and also won't rub on my Harland Sharp Roller Rockers too. I just wanted to see what you guys have. Please send anything you may have. You can either post them here or e-mail them to me at dotti66@hotmail.com Thanks a bunch guys smile.gif

I have stock orange covers with double gaskets over Crane roller rockers (mine are the non dripper style). They work great, nobody suspects a full roller upper half under them. Until I fire it up, with the solid cam it sounds great smile.gif

The link in my sif "The Soul" has the picture of our motor. Tall valve covers with 454 in them. Fit under the brake booster just fine. Hope this helps,
Chris

If I remember correctly these valve covers need to be modified to fit w/ roller rockers.

I don't have a pic on my computer, however I run the tall Wysco polished smooth top aluminum. I had a guy in K.C. that makes cages, he cut a notch out where it hit the booster and tig welded it back up to where all that I had to do was sand and polish the aluminum back up. Hope that helps.

....this is the motor in my black cherry car..the valve covers are just cheap $25 PAW "short" covers..2 gaskets and roller rockers..no problem.
FYI-I don't run rollers on my ride, but I do know for a fact these will work with 2 gaskets w/Harland Sharp rockers

These are mine, not as tall as chrome type, taller than stock. No problem with roller rockers and .632 lift.I already had the smaller booster but I think these would barely fit with stock type.

Hey Bob
I have the same problem with the valve cover hitting the booster, how is the smaller booster working out? Are you running disk on all fours or just front? Does the smaller one hold enuff vac. for them to work correctly? and lastly, what kind and how much would agood one cost?

Mine are the same as RedSS454. They're kinda tight putting them on and taking them off on the P.B. side but they fit.

I have an old set of Mickey Thompson valve covers on my big block, thick gaskets, crane roller rockers, and no clearance issues, except grinding the drippers smaller.

LYK2ROC; I don't know what type of covers they are but they are old. The guy I bought them off of had them sitting in his garage for over 20 years according to him and they came on a 69 Nova that he bought somewhere. They might be Cal Custom but they had no name anywhere on them, just some production number inside the cover. I do like them, they are very well made and kind of unusual with the bow tie.
jhunt; The small booster is a dual diaphram job I bought from California. It came as a complete unit ready to go, I think that the whole unit, booster, resevoir and valve was about $425.00, not cheap. It seems to work pretty well considering the cam I have. I have discs in the front, drum in rear but you can geta booster for any combination of brakes you have. I am considering going for the hydraulic system that runs off the power steering pump, no vacuum issues then ;)

It may be possible to run an s-10 pickup or blazer booster for added clearance. I think alot of valvecover and also header clearance problems are related to the motor mount frame stands. I do believe chevrolet used different height stands or motor mounts for the big blocks and also the smallblock 307 for some reason. Maybe someone else could shed more light on the subject. TTT
