Any way to tell if my car is a true L-78 car without build sheet? is there something to look for on the car?

vin# will tell if the car was an SS-model-138.
partial matching vin# on the engine and the engine codes could tell you more.........
what numbers are on your engine?????????

Nothing else on the car itself will tell you. IF the original engine is in the car and the block hasn't been decked, there is a stamping in front of the passenger side cylinder head. The first part of the stamping is the date the motor was built at Tonawanda engine plant. The last two letters in that stamping ID the engine code.
The letters & #s after the TO stamping are a partial VIN. If it's the original motor, it will be 8(Letter for assembly plant) then the last 6 digits of the VIN of the car. If you don't have the original motor or a build sheet, there's no way to tell what motor was in it.

In this post you imply that you have a build sheet, were you mistaken??

Then in this post you say it's a 325 HP motor  http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=225840 BTW, it's /Seafrost Green, not Seafoam.
Something goofy going on here??
