Just got back from the SEMA show in Las Vegas...The show was HUGE this year.... anyhoo tons of Hi Tech stuff are in the works...Some truely advanced stuff for late model cars and some just down right stupid... but one of the most intresting was a new SBC head that they showed at the Barry Grant booth....

It's a 3 valve set up for a SBC.... two intake and one exhaust valve.... Stock intake , exhaust , camshafts all fit. The intake runner has two valves inline and is operated by one rocker arm. According to who I was talking to it is said to make a big gain in low speed torque and also in hi end HP.....The chamber of course looks nothing like a normal Chevy head but the valves will clear a typical flat top or dished piston with typical .500 lift type cams.Any applications requiring a dome will need a custom piston but there are a couple of piston mfg's already working on it with them... But this prototype looked to have a very large amount of quench pad on it. He also said that GM is developing a 3 valve head to be released for production in two to three years.....

Unfortunatly I dont have any flow data or priceing but it's target is to be released in late 2005..... so no doubt some changes will be made along the way....

Lot's of other stuff going on but that would take hours to type.

Sweet! Sounds like it may bring some benefits to the table if it actually works out. Thanks for the info on it...I suppose it would be out of my $$ range, but it will still be interesting.

Can I ask if there was anything else at SEMA that sparked your attention? Anything new in the small or big block aftermarket fuel injection world? graemlins/beers.gif

It's funny now that Mr. Fueling is gone that multi-valve heads are coming out b/c his company has the patents on this!!!

AND I don't know if M/B/C and Ford ever settled with them on the subject of Royalties or not??

I asked David to ask Schubeck about what they make their radius foot solid ifters and cam lobes out of??

The show was very heavilly attended this year , in fact it was a zoo.... Ihave heard rumor that there were something like 128,000 pre regestered people plus those that regestered at the show. could be over 150,000 people.

Anyhoo here is a very brief overview of some of the things I saw...Bear in mind my job doesnt allow me time to check out alot of stuff...I'm on the throttle heavy there.

MSD has a new Hi Press Mechanical FI unit that basically is a modified old school FI with upgraded parts and new materials....

MSD also has a new Digital Propane Inj unit for the diesel guys...

MSD also has a new LT-1 Dist cap and rotor out of new materials and is vented in such a way that any moisture can actually drain out the bottom and as I understand it it's priced simular to a typical aftermarket stock replacement unit.Nice lookin piece.

They also have a new Digital E Curve dist...Simular to Crane's but reportably priced better....

LS-1/LS-6 Blaster coils that are a multi spark coil packs....

A bunch of other misc stuff also.

Edelbrock,

There is a new Victor JR 454 R EFI manifold.
They have a new Pro Tuner EFI systems with 3 basic set ups.... one for up to 500 HP , one for up to 800 HP and one for up to 1500 HP in semi sequential ( Victor ) or Sequential ( Super Victor )... lots of Bells and Whistles on this stuff.

The new Edelbrock/Lingenfelter LS-1 CNC heads...
A Victor 15 deg Semi Finished Head .

For the Ford guys there is a new 351C Air Gap intake and P RPM 190 CC Cleveland Heads.

There is a new muffler they came out with that they call the SDT ( Not STD )... ahem...Looks like a cross between a flowmaster and a Spintech..
Might not be the ultiment HP muffler but the sound bytes there had a totally different sound than they typical flowmaster noise and it's said to eleminate the resonance.

They have a new Nitrous System for the C-5 and GTO.

They have some new Upper Trailing arms for the GM A and G bodies. and new lower units for the 82-2002 Camaro and FB.

There is a new Endurashine Finish available to compete with the Permastar Finish..... something behind the scenes going on there.

They also have a new seies of fuel pumps that look pretty nice and are very quiet.

I looked for Harold at the Holley booth but was told he wasnt there.... D**mit ! Oh Well the Voodoo cams were on display as well as a bunch of other stuff.

Crane has a new shaft rocker set up for a BBC. as well as their new Zcams.... a new series to compete with comps XE series but suposedly without the noise....

FlexALite has a new alum radiator with T shapped groved billit sides that offer extremely simple mounting of radiator or of the fans or overflow systems or beer bottles or just about anything else.... not a light weight but very functional.

Hypertech has a new unit that will do everything except put gas in your car and tie your shoes...
Touch screen little computor that you can program neary anything into.... I cant even begin to expain this one.....

Sorry but I've been working off of about 6 hours of sleep in the last week so i'm abit rummy...And I'm at work right now.....Anyhoo lots more to go over but I have to stop for now.

As I think of this stuff I'll add to it...

Comp Cams has some more new lobes out...

The XFI lobes for late model FI engines , these are all ground on a 113 LSA and designed to work with 1.6 and beehive springs.

LS-1 ,-2 , -6 Gen III Alum shaft rockers.

A bunch of new simulation software and their new Fast Flash hand held programmers... Everyone is getting into this market.

B&M has a new series of shift control gates for STOCK shifters.... 93-02 Camaro /FB , 82-92 Camaro/FB and 87-2000 Mustand.... once installed allows you to bumb the stick foward for each gear change without overshifting....great for stock look but improved shifting from your stock shifters.

Russell has a new series of Quick Disconnect fittings for use with non alchol type useage and another set of fittings with different seals in them for methanol use...

Both Accell and Moroso are now offering 5MM ign wires for V8's..... Yes 5 MM.... Seems the street rod guys want to be able to hide things and this is to address those needs..... Same internals as their 300 Plus and Ultra 40 series respectivly but the outer insulation is very thin....

For you Buick fans Edelbrock has rereleased the old discontinued " B-4B " intake.... This was basically what the Performer was patterned after but the Performer wont allow the use of the Stock Buick Ram Air cleaner system but the B-4B has it's carb pad mover abit to allow this to work.

Edelbrock also has a new series of gaskets....
Head sets , Valve cover gaskets ,header gaskets ,
Intake gaskets.... ect.
