About 12mpg in town, 17mpg on the freeway @ 80-85 mph with a carb running on the rich side all the time.

As far as the combo, Procharged 353 (15 lbs of boost, ~650 hp), 3.42 rear gears, TKO 5-speed (.68 OD). Car weighs 3620lbs with a full tank of gas.

I expect to break 20mpg on the freeway (hoping for 24mpg or so) once I get the fuel injection installed, also hoping for 15+ in town.

About 10 mpg. :(

68 SS-396, 4.10 rear gears and a four speed. graemlins/hurray.gif

I'd like to switch to a Tremec 5 speed someday.

I don't know what it would get if I could keep my foot out of it. ;)

Not sure about in town but I've beeen getting as high as 18/19 with my 454/700R4/3.08 rear on the highway. That's with a UD 276/286 hydraulic cam and a 750 vac. sec holley.

around 10 mpg on the highway with a solid cammed 406, tunnel ram, with two 450 holley carbs, 3500 stall and 2.56 :( gears

I can only guess what I'll get this summer, more c.r., more cam, more stall, and 4.56 gears graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I get about 15-17 mpg on the highway, in town i don't even keep track, all depends on how i drive.

I've gotten as high as 23 mpg on the highway with my combo. Lately I've averaged 18 after jetting up a few points and putting lighter secondary springs in the Holley.

My combo is a '68 El Camino with a 357 CI engine, Vortec heads, 10.5:1 compression, Crane solid cam, Holley 600 4150 vacuum secondary, HEI ignition with 20 degrees initial advance, 34 total, 700R4 transmission, 3.55 10-bolt rearend, and tall spindle conversion with home-made upper A-arms and 12" disc brakes.

I mentioned the suspension because it lowered the front-end substantially, helping cut down on the wind resistance.

2500 RPM at 80 mph, plus a 3.06 first gear with the 700R4 equals low RPM cruising while still screaming through first gear like a scalded ape! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

But also, I think it shows that you can build a good, high efficiency, performance engine using compression and the right cam grind.

Old Red runs at around 15 mpg with the tach held steady between the 3200 and 3400 rpm hash marks. The cam would still plow the car through the air at 2600-2800 rpm, I'm sure. So with an OD, it'd be even better. ( 439ci, big port fact alum heads, 3X2 intake, UD BB276/284F10 cam, mildly 'blueprinted' shortblock, L88 rods, GM steel crank, SRP's, 8.6:1 dynamic, 10.51:1 static compression.)

I suspect wider LSAs help in better fuel economy, but I can't be sure. Compression does, for sure.

I get about 17 mpg combined city/highway. Probably 40% highway, 60% city. That's with the 327 in my signature in a 67 Malibu. I've got a 2600 rpm stall converter which I am sure doesn't help. No overdrive. 3.08 rear gear.

1981 Camaro(3600lbs+), 355 with 203/212@.050 cam, Holley 650 Double Pumper(with VS primary metering block), Tremec TKO 5-speed, 3.42s.

17mpg Highway, 13mpg city. This is without a vaccum advance distributor...I just got my gf to buy me a MSD Vaccum distributor this christmas and from everything I heard, I should be seeing 20-22 Highway 16-18 city when I finally put it on....and if I put the Vaccum Secondary Carb on I have laying around I also get an extra 1-2mpgs.

Pretty good daily driver combination...it runs 97mph trap speed so it should be good for high 13s when I get it to hook.
