i was messing around with the car today and i changed my vacuum sec. spring from a tall yellow to a purple spring (stiffer) since the sec. was dumping in to soon, and i played with the timming a few weeks ago to bring it in sooner and bring the timming up higher too.
the timming is now 22 initial and 42 total.
now my convertor brake stalls at 2800 rpms compared to about a month ago when i put it, it was only 2600 rpms and that was before the chnages.
i hope it was from the changes and not the stall having problems..............

I'm sure it is the changes. What you did should increase the low end torque causing the converter to stall higher. I'd keep an ear out for detonation with the 42º total you have. May or may not be an issue.

the engine itself is pretty quiet, so hearing the ping isnt so much a problem, i will be checking my plugs after i get some more miles on it.
i was having ping problems before the intake and convertor swap, it seemed to be around 2000-2200 area.
i had a 1600 stock stall and then a 2100 brake stall in there and it ping good with those two convertors, and my timming was way retarded to stay out of it.
but at the track the more i pushed the total timming up the faster it got mph wise but it would ping more on launch.......
thats what i get for trying to make this work with 2.41 gears and a heavy car with high comp.
anyway i hope its from the changes.......the convertor was rated from 2400-2800 rpms......
i even had the total at 50 degrees and it still didnt ping from what i could hear.......but i recurved the dist and close the mech. gap so now there is a 20 degree spread.....

Take a look at the plugs. If you see tiny black specks on the porcelain, you have detonation. The specks are particles of aluminum blown off the pistons. It will show up before you can hear anything.

How do you measure brake stall?
I mean, you didn't change the brake pads did you.. or maybe push on the peddle a bit harder than before?
What I'm saying is, even tranny temperature can affect that variable. I wouldn't use it as a point of reference for anything significant.
